Super Star Scientist Libby!

Objective:  To see what happens when you mix oil and water.

Materials:  water, food coloring, oil, and a water bottle

Libby had all her materials out and ready to go!

First, Libby put a couple drops of blue food coloring in the water.

Then she shook the bottle to mix it up!

Next, she added oil to the water...

…and the oil sat right on top of the water!

Libby shook the bottle of water and oil to try and mix them…

…but they just separated again!

Conclusion:  Oil and water do not mix.  Water is at the bottom of the bottle because it is more dense than oil.
