Super Star Scientist...
Annabel!

Experiment: The Lemon Battery
Objective:  To show that chemical reactions make electricity
Materials:  lemons, copper, nails, alligator clips, light bulb

Wow!  Look at our scientist with all of her experiment materials out and ready.  This looks serious!

Our scientist and her assistant, Dad.

First, our scientist rolled the lemons...
"like I'm kneading dough".

After that, Annabel put a piece of copper wiring in the lemon.

(She politely reminded a classmate to "shhhh"!)

Next, she added a nail to the lemon.

She repeated that for the 2nd lemon and...

...and the 3rd lemon.

Next, she grabbed the alligator clips.

She connected the alligator clips from the copper in one lemon to a nail in another lemon.

She did this until all of them were connected to each other.

And then she connected it to an LED light bulb...

...and we had light!!!
The lemon battery produced enough electricity to turn on the white light!

Then she did a blue light!

Then she did a red light!

Here is a close up picture of Annabel's circuit!

Great job, Scientist Annabel!
What a cool experiment!

Conclusion:  The chemical reaction turns on the light bulb.
