Will!

Will was ready to go as our scientist with his goggles and lab coat on and his experiment set up!

Experiment:  Air Rocket

Objective:  To see what happens to air under pressure

First, Will and his assistant (Dad) laced a string through a straw tied the string tightly between two chairs.

Next his assistant blew up a balloon.

(a Mickey Mouse balloon!)

After it was blown up, the balloon was attached to the straw with tape.

Finally, Will released the balloon...

 ...and the air pressure pushed the straw across the string to the other side!

We had an AIR ROCKET!!

Conclusion:  

The balloon was forced along the string. The inflated balloon was putting pressure on the air inside. This caused the balloon to move along the string.
