Super Star Scientist Daphne!

Objective:  Will temperature affect the height of the soda pop geyser?

Materials:  2 - 2L bottles of Diet Coke (one room temp. and one cold), 2 packs of Mentos, 1 Steve Spangler Geyser Tube

Scientist Daphne took us outside for her experiment!
She had all her supplies ready and her lab coat on.

First, Daphne placed the Geyser Tube onto the cold bottle of Diet Coke…

…and screwed it on tight.

Next, she filled the tube with Mentos.

After that, she placed the lid on the tube…

…then prepared to pull the tab to release the Mentos into the bottle.

She quickly ran back and the geyser shot up!

Next, Daphne prepared the Diet Coke that was room temperature.

She once again placed Mentos in the Geyser tube, secured the lid...

and pulled the tab.
(And ran like crazy to get out of the way!)

This time the Geyser shot up even higher!!!

Conclusion:  The room temperature soda made a higher geyser!

That experiment was so much fun Daphne!
You did a GREAT job!
