What a great Egg Hunt & Easter Party
we had today!!

The "hunters" were in their "ready" positions just waiting to hear "go" to start the search for their numbered eggs!

(Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Franks for playing Easter Bunny and hiding all of our eggs!
They had 169 eggs to strategically "hide" around the playground!)

...and they're off!!

Next we headed inside for a poem about Easter, a craft, and a cupcake treat!

A BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Bairrington for organizing and facilitating our party.
It was a HUGE success!!

And many thanks to all the parents who supplied items and came to the party and helped.  We couldn't do it without all of your support!

May you each have a blessed Easter weekend with your families!

Our 5th grade Big Buddies came today and shared the "Resurrection Eggs" and story of Easter with our class.

And afterwards we had some more fun by playing in centers with the BIG kids!!
I think the 5th graders enjoyed it as much, or more, than the Kindergarteners!!

Emilie and Mary Elizabeth in the art center

Luka and Karis with JJ, Braxton, & Landry in the art center

David and Mitchell building in the block center with Kayla and Tyler

Jacey playing in the sand with Sydney

Mavanee all dressed up in the home center with Kylie

Kyle, Nico, and Jacob relaxing and building a crazy path for marbles

Luke and Emma doing some coloring in Luke's "rest and doodle" notebook

Chandler and Ai Vi playing the classic game Candy Land

Jack and Tatum in Jack's favorite classroom spot...the computers

Marin and Madyson striking a pose with Avyn and Maggie in the home center

Our Super Star Scientist...
Miss Marin McCarthy!

Marin was ready to go with her lab coat and goggles...
and eggs!!

Marin had two plates of eggs -
one with hard boiled eggs, and the other with raw eggs
She taught us how to tell if an egg was raw or cooked by spinning it...and used the VERY SCIENTIFIC  word "inertia"!

Marin showed us that when spinning a cooked egg, it spins very fast but when you stop it, it will not continue to spin once you stop touching it because the inside is solid and no longer in motion.

However, when you spin a raw egg, although it won't spin fast, once you touch it and stop it from spinning, when you let go it will continue to spin because the inside is liquid and is still in motion.

Wow!  Are we smart in Kindergarten or what?!

Parents, that's Newton's First Law of Motion:
"an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion..."

Way to go Marin!

We loved your experiment and it went so well with our egg study this week...and Easter, of course!

On Wednesday during "Big" Chapel, Luka  read a scripture for
Spiritual Impact Week.
He did a GREAT job!

John 11:25-26:  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”

Luka with Emma Fitzgearld (6th grade)

The class watched attentively as videos and speakers spoke of the true meaning of Easter.

We studied in class "He is not here.  He has risen!"
and rejoiced in the fact that our Savior is alive!

Our Super Star Scientist of the week...

Mitchell McBroom!!

Mitchell was prepared with his goggles and lab coat on and  all of his materials out and ready.

Mitchell taught the class about "chemical reactions"
during his science experiment! We learned that a chemical reaction occurs when there is a temperature change, color change, or bubbles are produced!

Mitchell used Phenol Red, baking powder, and calcium chloride to model these chemical reactions for us!

Mitchell did a GREAT job as our Scientist of the Week!
Thanks for teaching us so much!

We have another SIX year old in our class!!
Jacey Winn
celebrated her birthday over
Spring Break on March 12...

...but we had fun celebrating with her today in class!!

Jacey proudly held up her SIX fingers as we prepared
to sing "Happy Birthday" to her!!

Jacey was smiles from ear to ear!!

Jacey brought DELICIOUS cupcakes to share with the class!
It was such a beautiful day, we decided to eat them outside in the sunshine!!

We hope all your birthday wishes come true, Jacey!!

Introducing our
Super Star Scientist,
Chandler Kunkel!!

Chandler had all of her materials out and ready to perform her science experiment for the class!

She mixed baking soda and water and poured the mixture into a bottle.

Next, she added lemon juice and quickly placed a balloon over the opening of the bottle.

Then POOF the balloon inflated from the carbon dioxide bubbles!

Thanks for sharing your fun experiment with us!  That's something we can all try at home...with a parent's supervision, of course!!

I am so proud of how our class presented...
"He's Still Working on Me"!!

They did a GREAT job...
I really couldn't be happier with their performance!!

Waiting patiently for the student body to arrive!

Celebrating a job well done!

As a reward for their hard work, they each got a donut!!

Mitchell's Big Buddy came by to wish him good luck!
