Marvelous Smith!
It has been lots of fun getting to know Smith and his family better this week while he was MARVELOUS ME!

Smith brought a poster filled with pictures of people, places and things that are special to him!  We learned that he loves his dog, Muffin, and hanging out with his cousins! He likes to ride horses, loves Eagle football games and playing soccer, and really likes going to the "Ranchito" for "Dudes' Day"!

Mr. Garrett came to class and told us about his work at drilling rigs.  We learned that the rigs drill for natural gas, oil, and even water!  He has to wear a hard hat for safety when he is at work!

Smith and his dad have a fun climbing and flipping game they do together!  Smith showed us how he climbs up his daddy and then flips over!

Mrs. Garrett read us 2 of Smith's favorite books and the kids loved them both!  She read...

Runaway Bunny...

…and The Hueys in The New Jumper!

The Garretts were so "sweet" and brought each us a cookie to remind us about Mr. Garrett's job!

Thank you so much Garrett family!  We enjoyed our time with you this morning!

Tenery the Turtle is excited to spend the weekend with Smith and his brother, Sloan!  He knows it will be an adventure!

On Tuesday afternoon, we met with the Science teacher, Mrs. Spaeder, out at our school garden.  She talked to us about soil, compost, roots, and the fall vegetables we will be growing.

Each student helped loosen the soil with a garden tool and spread the compost out evenly!

This week in Science, we are taking a close look at soil with magnifying glasses.  We have talked about where we find soil and what we find in soil.

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to REESE!
Reese turns 6 on Sunday, but we celebrated her today!

All of Reese's friends were excited to show their 6 fingers and celebrate their friend!

Reese's mom brought us cupcakes to eat at recess!  What fun!

We hope all your birthday wishes come true!
Marvelous Thomas!
We enjoyed getting to know more about Thomas during his MARVELOUS week as MARVELOUS ME!

Thomas brought a poster filled with pictures of his favorite things!  We saw pictures of him cooking with Mom and Dad, playing with his sister, Emilie, vacations, family, his pets, and his favorite candy/snacks…candy corn and Goldfish!
We learned that he loves Halloween and cheers on the
Texas A&M Aggies…WHOOP!

Mr. Epps came and told us all about his job at Mira Vista.  He takes care of their beautiful golf course.  He showed us a putter and gave each of us our very own golf ball!

It takes a lot of work and a lot of people to maintain the many acres of a golf course.  He showed us with a ruler how short they keep the grass on the greens.

He gave each child their very own golf course grass to grow and take care of!
(If you will poke a hole in the bottom of the cup, water the grass, and maybe add some fertilizer, the grass can grow up to a couple inches.
You can even take it out of the cup and plant it!)

The students took a closer look at the grass with a special magnifying glass.

We'd like to thank the Epps family for a fun morning!

Tenery the Turtle is very excited to spend the weekend with Thomas in College Station cheering on the Aggies!  This is Tenery's 2nd time with the Epps…he went  with Emilie 2 years ago!

This week we set up our "offices" so we could have quiet, private work spaces!

The kids love their new work spaces…they said it's like have a computer in front of them! :)
