Grant!

Experiment:  Bottle Balloon
Objective:  What happens to air as it is heated and cooled?

Grant had all his supplies ready to go!
He was also joined by 2 assistants…Mom & Dad!


First, Grant put a balloon on an empty bottle.


Next, his assistant, Mom, poured HOT water into a bowl.


Then Grant placed the bottle with the balloon into the bowl of HOT water 


…and the balloon inflated!


Then he took the bottle out of the HOT water and placed it into a bowl of ICE...


 …and the balloon deflated!

Conclusion:  When air gets warm, the air molecules dance and expand.  The balloon inflates.  When air gets cold, the molecules settle.  The balloon deflates.

You did a GREAT job, Grant!
You really understood your experiment and did a great job showing and explaining it to your classmates!
