Marvelous Ryan!

Take a look at our MARVELOUS week with Ryan!

Ryan brought his poster that showed us pictures of his family, vacations, his dog, and his cute baby picture!

Mrs. Cage, Ryan's mom, came and talked to us about her job as a Speech Therapist.  We practiced making several sounds the correct way!

She also read us 2 books that we loved!

She read The Listening Walk and Counting Crocodiles!

Thanks for spending part of the morning with us, Mrs. Cage!

Ryan is looking forward to spending the long weekend with Tenery the Turtle!

Today we all experimented with the 

3 States of Matter!

First, we drew with sidewalk chalk (solid).

You may see signs of it on your child's clothes! :)

Next, we blew bubbles (gas)!

Finally, we painted with water (liquid)!

We painted rocks, the sidewalk, trees, and the building!

In class this week, each child took a turn on the SMART board spelling our sight words using "fridge magnets".  This is Paul choosing the letters and sliding them up to spell each word. When he was done, he read them to a partner!

Also this week we started learning about the states of matter…SOLID, LIQUID, & GAS!

As a Kindergarten group, we conducted an experiment demonstrating the 3 states.

First, we put ice (solid) in a hot skillet…

…then we observed as the ice (solid) melted into water (liquid), and then began steaming and bubbling (gas)!  

All the students were able to watch the transition between the states by watching the projection on the SMART board!

Marvelous Paul!

Paul was our first Marvelous Me!

Paul brought a poster showing us his family, vacations, and some of his favorite things, like soccer!

  Paul's dad, Dr. Ayo, came and told us about his job as a Pulmonologist.  We all had a chance to listen to our lungs as we took deep breaths!

Thomas carefully placed the stethoscope in his ears!

Tenery the Turtle is very excited to be going home with Paul this weekend.  We can't wait to see and hear all about their adventures together!

Today for science, we watched

"Sid the Science Kid:  Super Science Tools"

and then investigated the classroom with magnifying glasses!  What fun we had seeing how big things looked!

Rhyce observed her name tag!

 Paul, Reese, Caoilinn, Smith, and Douglas were able to see things much bigger on the globe!

Sam investigated his cubbie!

 Addison and Reese observed a book and each other!

Today we watched Mr. Tenery feed our class pets, 
fire-bellied toads!

They like to eat crickets!  We had lots of fun watching our toads chase their dinner!
