Super Star Scientist of the week...

Luka Burciu!

 

Luka had his materials ready...

a penny, a cup, and vinegar

Luka showed us a dull penny and explained that the oxygen in the vinegar could clean it.

We could see the vinegar starting to do its job!

After a little rubbing with the vinegar, Luka showed us a shiny penny!

Way to go Luka!

Our First Super Star Scientist...

Kyle Bairrington!!

Kyle made lemon soda by mixing water, lemon juice, baking soda, and sugar.  He was super safe wearing his goggles and lab coat!

When he added the baking soda, we saw it "fizz"!  

Kyle told us the bubbles were carbon dioxide!

Our scientist mixed carefully and then served us his soda!

We all LOVED it!

We think he could bottle it and sell it!

He said if he does, he'll give the money to the poor!

We have great kids in this class!

Way to go Kyle!!

 We had a Birthday Girl this week!

Chandler turned 6 on

Friday, January 18!!

Chandler's mommy made yummy strawberry cupcakes to celebrate the big day!

It was such a pretty day, we ate them outside on the playground!

It was also Teddy Bear week, and boy, did they make themselves at home in our classroom!!

The bears belonging to David, Mitchell, Kyle and Luke played in the block center!

Jack's and Luka's bears took a plunge into the sand box!!

Chandler's, Jacey's, Marin's, and Madyson's bears got creative in the art center!

And, Karis', Mavanee's, and Emilie's bears had a pizza dinner together in the home center!

On Thursday night, they all huddled together on the carpet and had an early

"Teddy Bear Picnic" and feasted on Gummy Bears!!

The students LOVED the HUGE bear that Chandler brought in on Friday for her birthday and the Teddy Bear Picnic!!

Happy New Year!!

We rang in 2013 by making party hats and pairing them with fun glasses! 

We listened to "auld lang syne" and saw the fireworks on a YouTube Video.

And, lastly, we wrote New Year's Resolutions!  Please come read them...they are hanging on the bulletin board outside our classroom!
