It's a lot of work to be a Kindergartner!

After a picnic lunch with our Big Buddies at Field Day, our carpet needed some vacuuming…and everyone wanted to pitch in to help!
Parents, did you know your little one knows how to vacuum?
They did a great job, worked hard, and had fun while doing it!

Field Day
was so much fun today!

Since the rain stuck around,
we stayed in the gym and had a blast!

Our PE student teacher,
Coach Gabriel Goodman,
is finishing up his time at SCS this week.
I wanted to share the kind letter he wrote to our class.

Today after our All-School Chapel,
we headed out yonder to the farm for its dedication and ribbon cutting!

We had a front row seat as
Dr. Armstrong and Mr. Kirk spoke.

Next our Board of Directors President
(along with Mrs. Rall, Mrs. Spaeder, Student Council President, Addi Thompson, and Principal for the Day, Maguire Smith)
performed the ribbon cutting and we officially opened "Old MacKirk's Farm"!

What an exciting day at our school!

Last but definitely not least…
Super Star Scientist
Rhyce!

Experiment:  Smokey Bubbles
Objective:  What happens when you mix dry ice with water and soap.

Rhyce was ready to go for our last experiment of Kindergarten!  She had her safety clothes on and her materials were set up and ready!
She used:  water, dry ice, and dish soap

First, Rhyce picked up 2 pieces of dry ice with tongs

…and placed them in the bowl of water.

Next she added dish soap to the dry ice and water.

Then she added a little more soap...

…and even more soap!

Look at the "smokey bubbles" she made!

She showed us how she could pick up the bubbles and pop them and smoke came out!

She also let all of us try it too!

What fun!

Look at the smoke coming out of the bubbles!

Conclusion:  The carbon dioxide in the dry ice makes the bubbles in the soap smokey.

What a super fun way to finish up with our scientists!
Rhyce…you did a GREAT job and knew all about your experiment!  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to Mom, Dad, and Rhyan for coming to support your  Super Star Scientist!
