Let's Go Rangers!!!

This was the view from my seat!
We were in foul ball territory, so I paid close attention the entire game!  Beltre (#29) hit a home run so we got to see fireworks

 My husband, Steve, and me!
(A few players were stretching and warming up behind us)

Since it is finals week for middle school and our son had his last math test today, we left the kids home to study and we brought our dear friends with us to the game!

Thank you so much for the great gift and wonderful school year!

Haley lost her 2nd tooth today…
with a little tugging from Mrs. Tenery and Nurse Stokes!

We love your new smile, Haley!

With just 2 days left of
Super Star Readers,
Christopher snuck in one last sundae!!

I hope you'll keep up the great reading over the summer, Christopher!

With the Spring weather in sight, our school practiced our bad weather drill.
Look at how great we did the
"Duck and Cover"!
(Our safe location is the girls' bathroom since our classroom has windows…
the boys weren't too sure about that!!)

Super Star Scientist
Macey!

Scientist Macey was ready to go with our last Super Star Scientist experiment of the school year!  She had her goggles and lab coat on and was ready with all her materials:  hard boiled eggs, small necked jar, and hot water.

Experiment:  The Egg in the Bottle
Objective:  Can an egg go into a bottle that has a small hole without mashing the egg?

First, Macey's  assistant, Mom, put very hot water into the bottle...

…and Macey shook it to make the bottle hot and then poured the water out.

Next, Macey placed the egg over the hole at the top of the jar.

We waited and watched as the steam pulled on the egg

…and after a short time, the egg dropped down into the bottle!

We tried the experiment a second time in a different location so we could have hotter water to see if it would pull the egg down faster…

Macey shook the hot water in the bottle,

poured the water out,

placed the egg on top,

and we waited,

and watched

…and it dropped safely down into the bottle!

Conclusion:
The hot water leaves steam in the bottle which forces out some air. When the steam cools, the droplets of water need less space.  The air pressure in the bottle is reduced and the pressure of outside air pushes the egg inside the bottle.
