Today we "planted" a
Sweet Potato
in a glass jar with water and placed it in the window.
We will observe it over the next 2 weeks.

Introducing this week's Super Star Scientist...
Jacey Winn!!

Goggles: check!  Lab Coat: check!

Our scientist had all her materials out and ready.
Her experiment required: ice cubes, a cup of water,
a piece of string, and salt

Jacey placed the ice cube in the cup of water...

...then placed the string on the cube and hung the end out of the cup.

Next, Jacey sprinkled a pinch of salt over
the ice cube and string.

Jacey asked her assistant, Mrs. Tenery, to set a timer for
5 minutes...and we patiently waited...

...and when the timer went off, Jacey was able to pick up the ice with the string!

How cool!

Thank you Jacey for being such a
GREAT SCIENTIST!!

Mrs. Trawick, the Science teacher, invited us to the Science Lab to watch the 6th graders dissect FROGS!

Chandler and Jacey watched on as Emma Tenery
and her lab partner, Mac, worked toward removing the brain!

Mavanee watched Sydney show her different organs!

Madyson joined Chandler and Jacey as the 6th graders continued to work.

Kyle and Emilie look like they're ready to start dissecting!
Mitchell is peering in trying to get a better look!

Jack and Luka don't look too sure about all this!!

Marin and Karis are watching carefully...
are they ready to put on some gloves and "dig" in?

What a fun morning working with the 6th graders!
We are truly blessed to be at a school where the BIG kids anxiously work with the little ones...they were so excited to be able to share what they were learning with our Kindergarteners!!

 Our Super Star Scientist, Madyson,
is ready to go with all of her safety gear on!

Madyson had her materials ready...
water, baking soda, vinegar, and raisins.

She carefully measured the baking soda and vinegar and stirred to make sure it dissolved.

Next she added raisins to the mixture...

...and after a few minutes, the raisins rose to the top!!

Madyson taught us that the bubbles attached to the raisins and since the bubbles were lighter than the mixture, they rose up taking the raisins with them!

Way to go Madyson!
We enjoyed your experiment!

Our Birthday Girl...Karis!!
She turned the BIG 6 today!!

Karis' Big Brother Wilson
and Big Sister Taylor
 celebrated with us!

Mrs. Tenery, of course, LOVED
the Aggie cookie cake Karis shared with the class!

We hope all your Birthday wishes come true!

Our Super Star Scientist this week was...
David!

David was ready to go with his goggles, lab coat,
and lab sheet!  He carefully read his objective, materials, and experiment steps.

David used milk, dish soap, Q-tips, food coloring, and a plate.

He added food coloring to the milk to begin.

Next, he gently swirled the colors with a Q-tip dipped in dishsoap to make color bursts.

Finally, he had vibrant "milk art"!

David and his mom told us that by dipping watercolor paper into the milk mixture, you can capture the milk design!

What a FUN experiment, Scientist David!!

We had a fun visit last week with our
Freshmen Bible Buddies!
It's always a treat when they come and we talk about God together!
